Indy Cam ViewRakesh was a Doctoral Student in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Medical Informatics Group, Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Center at Georgia Tech . He is presently a research scientist at the Center for Information Enhanced Medicine (CIeMed) in the Institute of Systems Science (ISS) at the National University of Singapore. His research interests include Image Processing & Interpretation, 3D Computer Vision & Object Recognition, Scientific Visualization, Knowledge-Based Image Interpretation, and Application of CVGIP to Medical Imaging. Other interests include hiking, traveling, cooking, and scriptural reading. For people interested in studying the Holy Shrimad Bhagvat Gita, the entire contents of the scripture are provided here in the Sanskrit Language.
His dissertation work involved the development of an innovative methodology for determining orientation of 3D objects from three dimensional data. The emphasis is on design and implementation of algorithms that are (i) truly automatic, (ii) general and robust and (iii) provide interactive visualization of the results. This novel approach has been applied to automatically determine the orientation of the left-ventricle from cardiac SPECT data.
