Research Experience

Georgia Institute of Technology, GA. (05/2004 - Present), Research Assistant

  • Cooperate with HP Labs in workflow modeling: This research tackles inflexible and tangled code in procedural-style workflow languages and applies aspect-oriented techniques to separating synchronization constraints from other aspects of workflow modeling. A tool is developed to support workflow design, deployment and execution in BPEL. The research challenges include synchronization constraint description, validation and code weaving.
  • Cooperate with HP Labs in automation of application staging: This research works on translating service deployment workflow specified by a resource management system to a target deployment language. The research challenges include infrastructure design and workflow construction.
  • Cooperate with HP Labs in comparison of different deployment languages: This research aims to compare deployment languages in different paradigms. The research challenges lie in how to select appropriate metrics and quantitatively and qualitatively measure them.

IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA (05/2006 - 08/2006). Research intern

  • Work with Chitra Venkatramani. Designed and implemented a stream filtering algorithm.

Microsoft IDSS group (05/2005 - 08/2005). Summer intern as software engineer

  • Optimize behaviorally targeted inventory in Internet advertising applications. The goal of this project is to delivery advertisement to target customers by monitoring their Internet accessing history. The big challenge lies in designing an efficient algorithm to categorize hundreds of URLs per second.
