I am an associate professor in Interactive and Intelligent Computing at Georgia Tech. My research is focused on autonomous robots, social animals and multi-robot teams. I teach courses in computing, primarily about robotics and perception. I co-direct the BORG Lab with Frank Dellaert. My research is funded by DARPA, Microsoft, NSF and the Naval Surface Warfare Center.

Short Biography
Tucker Balch is an associate professor in the School of Interactive and Intelligent Computing at Georgia Tech. He completed his Ph.D. at Georgia Tech in 1998. Balch was a postdoctoral fellow for one year, then a member of the research faculty at Carnegie Mellon for two years before he returned to Georgia Tech in 2001. He now directs the BORG Lab at Georgia Tech with Frank Dellaert. His research interests include collaboration and communication in multi-robot teams, and activity recognition and modeling in live social agent systems. Professor Balch has published over 70 research articles and edited two books, including Robot Teams with Lynne Parker. He likes boiled peanuts, is an NSF CAREER Award recipient and a former F-15 pilot. He has three children with his wife Maria.
